Katheryn Stott Oil Paintings Art Artist

A couple of years ago I did a show about my sister’s poems. She published her first book of poetry and I picked several to paint about. Those paintings had the words of the poems embedded into the painting. A couple of people commissioned me to paint them a ‘poem painting’ after that show. Laura and I are now working on a collaboration, called ‘Blue Nude Migration’. It’s the name of a book of poems and paintings we are working on together. She was inspired by Matisse’s Blue Nudes, and wrote several poems about them. The 'Blue Nudes' in her poems are a sort of other worldly creature who turn up in the desert, in Alaska, climbing out of paintings and wandering through train stations....they are metaphor, or not, but anyway really wonderful poems. I painted a first batch of Blue Nude paintings last year, and I am working on a second batch now. Copies of the poems will be forthcoming in this section also, along with the paintings I am working on. But for now here are some of the Blue Nude paintings and some of the poem paintings from 2015. We are scheduled to show our collaboration in April at the Salt Lake County Library, Foothill Boulevard location.

Poem painting for Mom, for Dad. He wrote this.

This is a poem painting that my friend Kathy Seguine asked me to do, for a Robert Frost poem....I wish I had a better photo. I was really happy with the painting.
